Spray Cheese!

Hello, Candies! It's been a while since I've done one of these posts, so I have decided to bring them back. I will be looking at some photos online and rating them on cheesiness, because I'm sure we've all seen the occasional quote so cheesy it raises your cholesterol. No? Okay then...

Although this quote may have some truth hidden inside it, it is so cocooned in cliche that I can't really internalize it. Oh well, I guess it isn't too bad.

Of course, we couldn't call this a Nandy-certified cheesy post without a horrible pick-up line in there. Just... eww... You're right you're the "1" I need; if that's your best pick-up line, you're certainly a 1/10 at best.
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
And why am I only a 9?
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
In fact, this pickup line is so bad it's funny, and I guess a sense of humor can be appreciated.

This quote, while meant to be inspiring, can actually have the opposite effect. It assumes that you know what your dreams are, and that living the life you've imagined is feasible. This quote could call attention to the fact that it's not, which doesn't help anything. Also, "confidently" looks like it's spelled wrong. At least the lettering is pretty.

And that's all the cheese I feel like dealing with.
so bye.
I give that image a 🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀 out of  🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀.

The Common Tragedy of Ophthalmology

Eye-eye, Candies! On Wednesday, I was forced against my will (kinda) to go to the eye doctor. There, I had to endure the pain that is a regular visit to the eye doctor's. I originally went because my vision had gotten a little blurry and I thought the power of my glasses had gone up. After reading some letters in a ridiculously small font and only missing one of them, they said I had 20/20 vision with my glasses.
     But you know what?
If a poisonous bee was flying at me from that distance and that happened to be the one time I misidentify the airborne object (just like I missed a letter one time) I could end up with some serious allergies or worse.
     Just sayin'
But that wasn't even the craziest thing! I'm sure all of you with vision issues can relate when I say "THE DANG DILATION DROPS!"
First, they put these drops to help the dilation drops sting less. The first drops, however, are highlighter-ink yellow. Seriously, for the next few minutes, whenever I wipe my eyes, the tissue comes away looking like it wiped up the blood of a small population of highlighter-ink-blooded creatures.
Then the dilation drops kick in and I start looking like an airheaded anime character. AND THEY HURT!
Finally, I get the joy of waiting for an hour for my 10-minute consultation with the eye doctor, who pronounces me pretty much healthy. Why did I come here again?
Then I get to go home and wait for the DILATION DROPS OF DOOM to wear off.

yay.

Mexico!

Hola! If you are reading this, I am in Mexico! Over Spring Break, we came here to Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara for vacation. Therefore, I have decided to make some lists of things having to do with Mexico. After all, the last thing you want to be while on vacation is listless!

Things I'm looking forward to:

  • Meeting my new family member that lives in Mexico for the first time
  • A break from constant boredom
  • The food
    • empanadas
    • quesadillas
    • burritos
    • guacamole
    • salsa
    • candy!
  • The warm weather (though that might change after I experience it)
  • A break from being constantly reminded of school and other academic obligations
Things I'm not looking forward to:
  • the heat and humidity
  • the fact that my entire Spring Break is going to be spent away from my friends in the States
  • the forced removal from previously mentioned academic obligations

spring means
nostalgia and long walks
spring means
old music and mental tears

spring is when
the world begins again
spring is when
i count off another year gone
spring is when
days get longer and happier
spring is when
the world begs to be seen

spring is
clarity
spring is
freedom
spring is
love

3 Methods to Get Those Eye Bags From Suitcases to Purses

Hello, Candies! I am sooooooo sleepy right now, since (yoou guessed it) I left writing this post until Thursday night. Therefore, this topic seems relevent. Let's get right into it.

1) TEA/SMELLS

Non-caffienated tea, such as chamomile tea, can help calm you down and erase the stress from your day, helping you get to sleep faster. Also, some teas contain substances such as melatonin, a hormone that regulates sleep.
As for the smells, it seems that lavender has been proven to improve the quality and quantity of sleep. I have actually tried lavender essential oil before sleeping. Although it didn't make me noticeably sleepier, I have been sleeping deeper off late. Maybe there's some truth to this then.

2) EXERCISE

Physical activity has been shown to improve sleep quantity and quality. For one, it tires the body out, allowing for a more regular sleep cycle. Also, yoga has been proven to help sleep as well; it relaxes the mind and body, improving sleep cycles. Basically, don't be a couch spud if you want some good Z's.

3) FIX YOUR ROUTINE AND ENVIRONMENT

We've all heard this one before; don't use screens for 30 minutes before bed, or at least set them to night mode. In addition to tricks like that, setting up a concrete routine can help you wind down and prepare to rest. This should include turning off devices and setting up the room in which you plan to sleep; make sure there isn't to much light, keep water and any essentials nearby (that aren't electronic; turn those off or put them farther away), and make sure it's quiet.

By implementing these measures, you'll (hoopefully) get a better night of sleep. Now, I am going to do just that.

The Acquisition of a Life

Hello, Candies! No, I haven't abandoned you. Last Thursday, I was busy studying for SciOly Regionals so I decided not to post. I apologize. At least I medaled as a result!
However, in the empty void left behind by Science Olympiad, I realized that a yuuuuuuuuuuge portion of my time was spent studying. This is great and all, but as my friends have told me many a time, I have become a "padaku" (nerd). It's time to change that. Here is a list of some hobbies I may uptake. But what's life without a little pessimism? Therefore, I will also be shooting down each of these time passes to keep things sadly real. WOOT! 😞

Arts and Crafts
I have no fine motor skills. At least, they're not good. Also, this hobby seems like too much work for the end result; a misshapen version of something you could find at the store for less than you spent on supplies.

Creative Writing
I already kind of do this on this blog. However, I would like to shoot this down since I often get writer's block, and writing stories and poems in my free time just doesn't have enough appeal for me to be seriously considered. This is one of the better choices, though.

Music
Yeah no. I quit piano! And even though my elective in school is Band, I don't think of it as a hobby. Sorry!; this is out.

Language
This is like the previous one in that I don't think of it as a hobby, even though I don't hate learning new languages. This trumps creative writing in potential, but both aren't very viable, to be honest.

Dog Training
Casper would hate me.

Learning a Sport
Tennis is probably the most realistic here, but NOBODY EVER HAS TIME TO TEACH ME (hint hint Dad). I could sign up for a class. Actually, that's not a bad idea...

Unicycle
Yes! Wait; ouchie...

Traveling the World
Expensive. Jetlag. Planes. Crying children. Boredom. Random hotel bedsheets. NO INTERNET!

Tutoring
I thought I was trying to get away from studying!

Being Silly for No Reason
I'm doing that right now!

If you have any input on activities I should take up, feel free to leave ideas in the comments.

Bye, Candies!

Random Facts about Seaweed

I like seaweed. Let's get onto the post.

1) About 70% of the world's oxygen comes from algae and seaweed.

2) Seaweeds can grow fast. Like, really fast. Like, up to a meter a day fast.

3) Seaweeds (at least most of them) are actually algae.

4) Seaweeds are actually chock-full of minerals and vitamins.

5) Seaweeds are sources of emulsifiers and emollients, so they help the economy.

6) Seaweed can be used to fight cancer - that's cool.

Sorry for the short post but I have a test to study for.
