Persuasion Station: Should the Pledge of Allegiance be said in Schools?

     In class, we were having a debate on the issue of 'should the Pledge be said in schools'. First of all, I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings by sharing my opinion, so please do not be offended. Before I begin, these are the words:

I pledge allegiance, to the flag,

of the United States of America,

and to the republic, for which it stands,

one nation, under God,

indivisible

with liberty and justice for all.

     I believe the Pledge should not be said in schools. If you closely examine the words, it means you are promising to serve your country. Being an immigrant myself, I feel that it is unfair to have to say this when your allegiance lies with another country as well. It also has confusing wording, and to most people it means nothing. We spend time learning the Pledge, but really, it is more like a monotonous, redundant poem that we are made to recite. some people say the Pledge promotes patriotism and pride, but for it to have any effect on us, we need to know the meaning of what we are saying. as a final thought, did you ever notice that the pledge has the phrase 'under God' in it? What if you believe in many gods? No gods? The Pledge could be misinterpreted as being religiously offensive. Oh, and the Pledge also takes away time we could spend learning.

     I don't know about you guys, but some things really make me FLIP OUT! Here are a few of them:

1.  The word 'yass'. Like, seriously. Just type 'yes'. 'Yass' isn't impressing anyone.
2.  When my hair falls into my eyes. You can probably guess why this is annoying.
3.  When people force you to eat because 'children are starving in Africa'. Okay, they are. But what good is me eating doing them. If children are starving, DONATE! Don't tell me to eat!
4.  Chain messages. They are just urban legends, and they waste my data!

Becoming a Thunderbolt

     Hey guys. So yesterday the counselor from Thornton (my Jr. High) came to my school to talk to us about electives and the like. IT'S SO STRESSFUL TO APPLY FOR THESE ELECTIVES AND GET EVERYTHING TOGETHER! I have to manage school, homework, extracurriculars, and asocial life (not that I am a party animal). Plus, I need a new band textbook and they are sold out everywhere! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH! If you guys are already in middle school, please advise me in the comments below. I NEED IT!

     So sorry! But it's like 8:00 and I need to go to school. All I have to say is that on tuesday there will be a big post, so make sure to follow this blog. And I apologize again for my lapse in memory. Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY PIKID3!

   

     Okay let's get right to it. These are some really easy recipes for nourishing and easy-to-make snacks. And they're all based on fruits!

1.  PB&Banana: Literally the easiest thing ever. Just put some peanut butter on a sliced banana and add chia seeds if you desire.
2. Chili Apples: Okay I lied- this snack is even easier than the first. All you need is Tajin seasoning and sprinkle it over apples. Delish!
3. Juice Pops: Basically just pour 100% fruit juice in an ice tray and stick toothpicks in. Hold the toothpicks up with Saran wrap. Enjoy!

A Day in the Life of Casper

 

     Arf-arf! My name is Casper and this is my daily routine. But first, make sure to follow this blog to have your profile picture displayed on this website! Also, follow me on Google+ right under the picture of me. And now let's go!

7:15 am - I get up and go do my 'biz' outside. The nice lady takes me if the tall man can't.

7:45 am - I eat.

8:00 - 11:30 am - I follow the nice lady around. During this time she usually takes the skinny kid somewhere, but 2 days a week, she doesn't. Humans are strange.

11:30 am - After a walk, I settle down on the beanbag and nap. 😴

3:00 pm - The skinny kid comes back from wherever she went and ! follow her around for about 5 minutes. Back to the beanbag! 😴

4:30 pm (ish) - I go for another walk with that skinny kid. Then they go out somewhere.

7:00 pm - The tall man comes home. YYYYAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

8:30 pm - I'm done. So tired I could just 😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴.......
