Elements of a Bullet Journal:
(in order from beginning to end)
Index
This can take up a few pages in the front of your bujo, and it is like a table of contents. For this to work, you have to number the pages.
Key
This is where you will write down all your symbols and their meanings. More on that later.
Future Log
This is a page where you can plan things months in advance, such as vacations. I recommend either a calendar format or just a list of things coming up.
Monthly Log
A page, just like the future log, but for just the month. You can go into more detail about what is coming up here. This is where you use those symbols; for example, I use a box for things I want to do, and a triangle for places I need to go.
Daily Log
A to-do list of what to do that day, as well as any memories you made that day, books you read, quotes you noticed, just make it YOU. Make it pretty or simple, the beauty of a bullet journal is how it adapts to YOU!
Collections
A collection is a page devoted to one topic, such as books you want to read in the future. They can occur anytime throughout the bujo.
For more inspiration, I suggest Tumblr or Pinterest to get you psyched. The beauty of bullet journaling is how you can omit things you don't like, unlike a planner. You can also decorate it, and unlike a diary, this is a great way to remember what you love without all the work of writing sappy entries.
